The Ajman Centre for Social Responsibility Organizes a Training Programme

In collaboration with the Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Sweden, the Ajman Centre for Social Responsibility, a division of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has organized the “Corporate Social Responsibility Implementations and Sustainability Practices” training programme.

The two-day programme, held at the Ajman Saray Hotel, addressed the evolution of the theory and history of CSR, responsible financing, the concept of “juridical persons”, the different perspective of CSR responsibility between the East and the West, capitalism, philanthropy, sustainability, an introduction to values, ethics and philosophies in a capitalist system, and the concept of stakeholders.

The training programme was attended by Nasser Al Dhafri, Executive Director of Planning and Members Support and CEO of Ajman Centre of Social Responsibility, with participation of representatives from the public, private and non-profit sectors. The training course was first presented by Lohman, Head of Centre for CSR in Sweden.

In his opening speech, Al Dhafri welcomed all participants and emphasized the Centre’s keenness on increasing its efforts and organizing many more meetings, training courses and workshops for promoting the culture of CSR, especially among private sector ACCI members. He also pointed out that during the first year following its inauguration, the Centre was focused on raising the awareness of government and private entities on the importance of social responsibility, as well as introducing them to its concepts and implementations.

Al Dhafri also stated that this training programme comes as one of the outcomes of the official visit the Ajman Centre for Social Responsibility made to the Centre for CSR in Sweden. “We seek to strengthen our international partnerships in order to achieve the Centre’s goals of encouraging the adoption of CSR practices among the business community and companies in Ajman, raise awareness on this field, and promote the culture of responsible and sustainable business.” He said.

For his part, Lohman presented a number of CSR and sustainability models and experiences from different companies around the world. He also emphasised the importance of incorporating the concepts of environment, community and governance into CSR plans since their results will be observed in the performance and credibility of the companies, as well as the society as a whole.
